Violence Without Borders
Yakin Ertürk, who served as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women for many years, based on his field experience in different countries, makes a comprehensive analysis of violence against women, which has become a global phenomenon without any boundaries in terms of both level and spread. We see that it is not possible to address the violence against women, which crosses all countries from Sweden to Congo, from Guatemala to the Occupied Palestinian Territories, from west to east, north to south, with culturalist explanations; on the contrary, in many cases, culturalist essentialism is a direct accomplice of this violence.
The book, which focuses on how the rights struggles of the world's women, which have turned into a global power, created an international women's rights law, what has been achieved and what has not been achieved in practice, achievements and deficiencies, and ongoing theoretical debates, as well as the problems that need to be overcome, is for the struggle of both the new generation of feminists and social scientists. We think it is an invaluable resource for us.
Human rights must begin at home - on the street, at school, in the police, in courtrooms, in the workplace...
