Güne Söylediklerim
Murathan Mungan says the following about What I Said to the Day, the last of his books that bring together his prose writings:
"Some books appear almost spontaneously; the book in your hand is one of them. This is not one of my books where the writings accumulated over time progress step by step to a decided end after a certain point; things came suddenly in the flow of days... Starting from my twenties until today, I have given countless speeches in various places for various reasons. Those who have listened to me in one of them before know that: I usually give my interviews in an improvised manner, which the old people call "impromptu", and I try to diversify the content with the associations that emerge in the flow of the conversation and examples that come to my mind at the time, based on the topics and short notes I take to remember. Part of the dialogue I have is these face-to-face conversations. That day is what I said to the day because I was there. Between what we write to time and what we say to the day, the harvest of works and days is collected in a book, as it is here. Sometimes, a whole history stands behind a photograph, a day. Let's see it together."
