Tiyatro Nedir

Ismayıl Hakkı Baltacıoğlu (1887 - 1978), who lived through the Absolutism, Constitutional Monarchy and Republic periods, is a man of thought and action who made efforts and works on education, pedagogy, language and theater. Baltacıoğlu, who is better known in our country for his educator personality, is a versatile person with his combative, revolutionary, innovative and enlightening nature.

This book includes his life, the principles of theater studies at the school he introduced into the Turkish education system in the 1910s, his various writings on our national theater art, and his entire book titled Theatre.

In addition, his interesting, realistic and revolutionary views and practices, which aim to reach contemporary theater without breaking away from our traditional performing arts, are introduced.

While this book aims to draw attention to the fact that Ismayıl Hakkı Baltacığlu, beyond being an educator, is also a theater man of equal importance, it also aims to bring his radical views on our theater art into discussion again.
