Wings of the Dove - Hasan Ali Yücel Classics
Henry James (1843-1916): In his works, he dealt with the differences in understanding of life and culture between America and Europe with a shocking power of observation and depth. Henry James, one of the most well-known writers of American literature at a young age, lived in Europe from 1875 and spent most of his life in England during this period. He became a British subject in 1915, shortly before his death. The author, who gained international fame with Daisy Miller in 1878, gave importance to the inner life of people and mental processes rather than events. Published in 1902, The Wings of the Dove is one of Henry James' late novels and is considered one of the main works that paved the way for 20th century novelism.
Roza Hakmen (1956): She graduated from Izmir American College for Girls and METU Department of Economics. He is one of the most well-known translators who translated many important works of world literature from French, Spanish and English into Turkish. Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes, In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust, Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia Lorca are among the first ones that come to mind among the many works he translated.
Among the authors whose works Roza Hakmen has translated are Oscar Wilde, Anthony Burgess, Henry James, Mircea Eliade, EM Forster, Tim Parks, Anne Rice, Howard Norman.
