Women Playing Red Tambourines on the Full Moon
"We call by playing the tambourine, we send it by playing the tambourine. That tambourine is in the hands of the women now! Women, as full moons illuminating the darkness of society, wake us all up by playing the bloody full moon tambourine they hold in their hands. Every blow of the female fingers sprinkles the beats of her heart onto the stretched full moon tambourine! This bloody tambourine belongs to all of us. This bloody tambourine." "This red tambourine flows from the sky of all of us. And life is flowing like a flood of blood now, outside you and outside me and while we are in it."
The purpose of bringing this selection together is to sample the verses of the Iranian woman who wrote the poem. It is also an expression of women's stance. It is the creative cry of the feminine voice. Even though the "language" of these poems is different, they are important because they are the voice of Iranian women. However, this selection should not be read only as the voices of Iranian women poets.
It should be read as the resistance and honor of women who are at the forefront on every front in the world. (From the Promotional Bulletin)
