Prophet of Islam. One of the pioneering works in the West, comparing Muhammad with two important moralists of history and whose main reference is the Quran... The book written by Claude Emmanuel Joseph Pierre was published in Paris in 1876, "with the privilege of the Royal Academy of Inscriptions and Letters" and was published by the Academy of Letters. Awarded by.
The author states the following in his preface to the book:
Asia, accused of being a place of lethargy and laxity, has not always deserved this criticism. The most important lawmakers of the universe emerged from this part of the world. The region gave birth to Zoroaster, Confucius and Muhammad. It is an act worthy of the Academy to make us turn our gaze to them. Academy has perhaps never presented a subject so noble and so useful. But what courage to take up this issue! No matter how deep the research is, it remains insufficient. Especially here, deep knowledge must be accompanied by a reasonable philosophy. I confess that I am afraid of not being able to cope with the task I have imposed on myself. Let's try it anyway; and if my works are not crowned, at least my efforts will attract favor.
Zarathustra is the oldest of these three men: with him my book will begin. After dealing with him personally, I will explain his beliefs, laws and morality. I will follow the same order for Confucius and Muhammad. I will then compare them with respect to these various views; I will compare the periods they lived in; And again, by making comparisons, I will try to bring to light the effects they left on centuries and nations.
