The Story of Companions of the Cave
One of the most written stories in our civilization, the Story of the Companions of the Cave is located between the 9th and 26th verses of the Surah Kahf. This work is one of the Companions of the Cave whose author is unknown. The story offers depths that open up within contradictions, as if it were subject to a multi-layered reading.
Because, on the one hand, there is a king who has material power and authority, who has the sovereignty of the East and the West, who has therefore taken over the world and has been taken over by the world, but cannot fit into the world, who is in disbelief and misguidance, and who thinks the temptations of Satan are the truth, and on the other hand, there are seven young people who have faith and guidance, who have set their hearts on God, who have no existence other than the truth and loyalty to Him, and who believe with a deep sense of perception and comprehension. The story shows that unless a person turns to the world, the transient, and the material, he cannot be defeated by Satan; that a person who builds a wall of arrogance by worshipping will be heedless of his worship even if he worships; that a person who continues to do evil will not benefit from his worship even if he worships, on the contrary, it will cause him to be heedless of his worship. The Companions of the Cave, who took flesh and blood with the temptations of hidden arrogance and Satan, who rejected the king's divinity against the king who declared his divinity and took refuge in the mountain to escape from his cruelty, present us with an example with all their states and behaviors: an example of the absolute rejection of disbelief; of detachment from lies and the transient; and of surrendering to God without any doubt or doubt. Allah grants the Companions of the Cave a great miracle. He wakes them up after making them sleep for 309 years. This miracle is a representation of the 'resurrection after death', one of the basic principles of faith.
Although Ashab-ı Kehf consists of seven young people, they act like a single person in terms of the characteristics they represent. And they will always be remembered as the most ideal examples of people with an ideal being one body, one and together. Songül Aydın Yağcıoğlu, who brought the text and simplification of the Story of Ashab-ı Kehf to our cultural world, also presents a gift to our readers with her examination that penetrates the universe of meaning of the text.
