Bakmak
Commemorating Sevgi Soysal fills me with a feeling beyond feeling sorry for the mortal world and burning with helpless longing after not being able to get enough of it. I feel uneasy when I remember this flirtatious woman who left in a rush that befitted her own adventure. I suddenly feel like I am very young, like miracles are caressing my hair, like my breath is short of freedom and my head is spinning. As I sit and write this article, I look for reasons at the expense of my face turning red. For those who left too soon, I say that one can only write about one's personal adventure. It is a sin to say anything beyond what you have made you experience for those people who have their own word, whom fate crucified. I'm trying not to be ashamed.
- Yıldırım Türker-
Sevgi Soysal compiled Bakmak from her articles published in the Politics newspaper. These articles, written in a dark environment like Ankara of the seventies, are still of lasting value for anyone who is sensitive to the problems of their country.
