World War History - Age of Empire (1776-1914) Book Description The World War History series continues with the Imperial Age after the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Age. A magnificent work examining combat methods in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America from 1776 to 1914. World War History: The Age of Empires, 1776 to 1914, describes the methods of warfare in Africa, Asia and North America. The book examines the unique tactics needed to win the war in an era when England, France, and Spain established huge overseas empires and indigenous peoples resisted colonialists for their independence, and reveals, in a sense, how little has changed in the art of war. The first part of the book, which consists of five chapters, is It examines the infantry that constituted the backbone of the armies of the age of empires, the clothes they wore, the equipment they used, how they fought, and the advantages provided by changing technology. Secondly, the role played by cavalry, especially the impact of their mobility and intelligence gathering abilities on colonial wars, is examined. The decisive Battle of Ayacucho (1824), which gave independence to South America, is examined in this section. The third chapter, which brings to the stage the Battle of Balikiyao (1860), which resulted in the allied Anglo-French army sacking the summer palace of the Chinese emperor, and the disastrous Italian defeat at Adova (1896), discusses the importance of professional officers in the age of empires and the impact of training and decency. The fourth chapter of the book describes the evolution of siege warfare, which began with masonry curtain walls and traditional techniques in the age of empires, to trenches dug into the ground and barbed wire barricades with technological transformation. The Siege of Yorktown (1780), which guaranteed the independence of the United States, and the legendary Alamo Defense (1836) are also included in this section. The final chapter deals with the low-profile but vital role the navies played in empire building. With the emergence of steamships, Westerners advanced by river routes to the heart of Asia and Africa, which they had not been able to enter until then, new Western warships, which were virtually invincible thanks to their superior firepower and armor plates, put pressure on the world with "gunboat diplomacy" activities such as the Bombardment of Alexandria (1882), Western Hearths. Police activities against pirates and slave traders on the African coast are described in detail. World War History: Age of Empires, accompanied by specially prepared color and black and white drawings depicting the warfare, weapons and tactics of the age, explains the methods used by armies that achieved victory over their enemies - such as the colored armies of colonial powers, Abyssinian emperors and artillery squadrons - and why other armies did so. It describes in full detail that they were not as successful. This book will be one of the best friends of those who are interested in the epic military campaigns of the age of empires.
