Elderly and Old Age in Traditional Culture - Kırşehir Example Book Description Understanding a society requires protecting the cultural images of the society. Old age is a big data memory with its own rules, starting from the family, which is the smallest structure of society, to national structures. Recording this memory will also serve to record the traditional knowledge that has been formed in society over thousands of years. Wise people in the typology of "grandfather, grandmother, ancestor, dervish, Hızır", who were in the corner of the past, appear as the most important transmitters and carriers of traditional culture in the 21st century. Understanding the images of the elderly and old age will also lead to understanding the culture of old age, which is one of the basic dynamics of society. Every change that continues due to aging will form a large area of culture in the future, as it did in the past. In this book, unlike other studies, the elderly and the perception of old age are discussed for the first time in a multifaceted manner from an interdisciplinary perspective. The role of behavior patterns, perception and judgment styles formed depending on the elderly typology in the transmission of group belonging and tradition, which are the basic dynamics of culture, and its transformation until today, and the elderly data from ancient Turkish written sources to the present day, have been brought to the literature. In the book, old age, elderly identity, elderly stereotypes, theories about old age, and the term elderly in folk culture and basic cultural history works are questioned. Old age should not be seen only as the domain of people over the age of 65. Throughout the study, the place of old age in today's world and in tradition, from clothing to eating and drinking, was determined based on the evaluations of people under the age of 65, and a large elderly memory inventory was created.
