Kalekale
In his stories, Fakir Baykurt deals with problems such as the harshness of village life, poverty, ignorance, bigotry, superstition and exploitation, and deals with the material and spiritual world of the villagers from a socialist and realistic perspective. Based on observations and live testimonies, the author occasionally uses a humorous language by bringing daily spoken language into the story; It strikingly depicts the "ordinary person", who is stuck between the wheels of bureaucracy but also harbors hope, together with the atmosphere of the place he lives in. We are bringing Kalekale, first published in 1978, to the readers again:
The truck crashed through the wall. He passed through the halved haystack and came out of the calf. He came to the bottom of the courtyard, in front of the room where they were sitting, and stopped. No walls or pillars were left standing in the places he passed through. He even removed the nails. Katti made a mess. It has neither headlights nor windows. No paint, no beads, rearview mirror, mileage, fuel gauge etc. were warped, it was completely new. Fortunately, the engine stopped by itself. It was impossible for Kalekale to stop.
Kurus Ibrahim's wife was having a hard time in life. At first he thought there was an earthquake. Then, "Herald, the world has come to an end, the village is being destroyed!" he thought. Then, when he saw Kulakçi Salim's truck right in front of his nose, he almost fainted. When he saw Kalekale behind the wheel, his future became clear. He gathered himself together. "Wow, the donkey's offspring! You stole the truck without your father's knowledge, didn't you? You destroyed my house and left my family homeless and homeless! Wow, it's as bad as Kalekale!" Then he saw that his neck and wrist were scratched, his forehead was covered with blood, and his face had vanished, and he was trembling with a face as yellow as barley straw; It was acidic. As he jumped out, he grabbed the handle of the left cover, opened it, and pulled the child out. "Come baby, come to me! Come and stand up! Stand up, don't fall down right away!" said.
