Selections in Kurdish Culture and Literature
I must say that I have only recently become aware of the impact that fairy tales or oral Kurdish literature have had on me. My heart aches as I realize it. This oral tradition is on the point of extinction. Its revival is a cultural necessity. This tradition has a history of thousands of years and has continued to exist thanks to thousands of unnamed heroes. The society became unaware of the names of these oral narrators. Because these were the people in society, mothers, elderly people, people without titles or reputation; The narrators were shepherds, farmers and laborers; they did not have a special status. These were the geniuses of literature, all the owners of musical instruments were people in the society, and the narrators of oral literature were ordinary people. They were in love with their culture, they were devoted to their traditions and customs, they kept their love alive with their words, then they disappeared as libraries, along with their beautiful voices.
