“When we look back today, the fact that the Solution Process failed does not make this process unimportant, it just means that more efforts and different methods are required.
First of all, the Solution Process opened a door for discussing the Kurdish issue. He demonstrated that a way other than the traditional method of warfare was possible in the Kurdish issue. It increased the familiarity with the Kurdish issue in Turkish society and created a climate of legitimacy regarding this issue. He showed us the value of dialogue, negotiation and free debate in solving gangrenous historical problems such as the Kurdish issue. More importantly, deaths ended during the Solution Process. Any approach that denies the importance of this point cannot place the Resolution Process in its rightful place.
There were many warnings about the fragility of the process. The government has never had an integrated and comprehensive program for the solution of the Kurdish problem. In other words, the government was treating the Solution Process as a tactical move rather than a strategic approach. It was clear that the PKK also approached the Solution Process with a narrow and opportunistic approach. This approach was the weakest link in the process.

In the last few years, the geography where Kurds live has witnessed dizzying developments. The events that changed the course of history in Southern and Western Kurdistan do not come one after another, nor do they seem likely to come.
In 2014-2015, the Kurds were tested with the greatest challenges in their history. The war, fought on a 1700-kilometer front stretching from Khanaqin to Afrin, was an unprecedented defense of the homeland. The world was stunned by the epic victories achieved by Peshmerga in the war against ISIS. Kurds not only heroically defended their homeland in the war against ISIS, but also paid a great price for humanity.
The independence referendum held in Southern Kurdistan on September 25, 2017 is a rare event that unites the Kurdish world. The independence referendum was a historic moment in the Kurdish people's 200-year struggle for freedom. Kurdish awakening and national consciousness have never been this high. Yes, subsequent developments did not cast a shadow on this victory. However, all these unfortunate events do not eliminate the historical importance of the September 25 referendum. "The Kurds' description of the September 25 referendum as the title deed of Independent Kurdistan is a justified and appropriate assessment."
