Ottoman Empire and Islam - An Empire, a Religion Book Description One of the findings of this study is the establishment of the Ottoman madrasah on an Ibn Arabi tradition and how this influenced all the Ottoman centuries. “Perhaps the main dimension of the Ottoman Empire's relationship with Islam that should be centered is the state's perception of Islam, in terms of its close connection with other segments and its dominance over them. For this reason, the study tried to show that the Ottoman central administration itself was at the center of this relationship. The state always makes one feel that it is on top in its relations with other sectors. Those sectors are also aware that they have to organize and manage their relations with the state and even with each other accordingly. For this reason, classical texts are occasionally mentioned in the text, reflecting how old, deep-rooted, powerful and diverse the Ottoman State was as the heir of a set of political and religious traditions and ideology. These texts are perhaps more descriptive than what we have written on pages and pages, and reflect their own world of mentality with the language they use.
