While the opposition against global capitalism and the imperialism that articulates it leads to major protest movements of the masses all over the world and enables the creation of new forms of resistance (the last example of which was seen during the Istanbul NATO meeting), the cultural environment in Turkey still continues to be kept in a depoliticized position, with literature and art. They are trying to break the historical and vital bond between politics. I want this bond to be emphasized and strengthened, not to be indifferent to the phenomenon of cultural imperialism that is rapidly spreading and internalized in Turkey, and to be warning and critical about this issue. I am saying that a transcendental understanding of literature and art is, in the last instance, a political attitude aimed at hindering and suppressing the fighting power and will of the masses living under the domination of the ruling classes. ...
