Gabriel's travel book is an important reference work about Diyarbakır and the geography of the region, which has been expected to be translated into Turkish for many years but could not be realized.

The book, translated into Turkish and published as Albert Gabriel's Archaeological Excursions in Eastern Turkey, should also be considered as a belated debt of loyalty and apology to Gabriel.

When his life story and efforts are examined, it will be seen that; The author of the book; Professor Albert Gabriel is not only a researcher, writer and archaeologist, but also the person who saved the ancient Diyarbekir walls from destruction and even extinction.

The book, translated into Turkish and published as Albert Gabriel's Archaeological Excursions in Eastern Turkey, should also be considered as a belated debt of loyalty and apology to Gabriel.

"My aim was to carry the research that I had undertaken and partially completed in Anatolia beyond the Euphrates. However, when it came to Anatolia, I had concise narratives, monograph sketches, publications and articles on inscriptions prepared by Turkish scholars from the very beginning.

My new work did not come close to this threshold: Upper Mesopotamia's monuments were mostly known only from travelers' brief descriptions, and previously published studies were not based on first-hand examination of the structures. The inscriptions from Diyarbekir and the region's numerous inscriptional texts remained largely unpublished.

We made two trips, the first in April-May 1932 and the second in October-November of the same year. During this trip, I visited the cities of Mardin, Dunaysır (Kızıltepe), Hisn-Kayfâ (Hasankeyf), Mardin, Dunaysır (Kızıltepe), Dara, Nisibin (Nusaybin), Harran, Urfa, Bitlis, Ahlat, Batman, Harput, Pertek, Malatya. .” says Gabriel.
