Social Contract
The Social Contract, written for modern people who are aware of living in a society and questioning it, is a guide to establishing a society under the leadership of reason and re-establishing freedom while living together with others. Before this civilized life, there was a state of nature created by the conflict of individual interests, which people abandoned by following reason. What should be the social structure in which we can both participate in social sovereignty and remain free without giving up the individual sovereignty that is our birthright? Despite all his romanticism, Rousseau, rather than lamenting for the state of nature, opens the door to social changes that will carry world history to the French Revolution and a new era.
"The secret of the Social Contract can be found in the concept of complete transfer of rights."
-Louis Althusser-
"If we summarize Rousseau in two words; one of these words is the social contract and the other is the general will."
-Alain Badiou-
