Base of Revolution
Ahmet Mithat Efendi, who filled the entire Tanzimat and Servet-i Fünun periods and even the first years of the Constitutional Era with his works, has more than one title: Journalist, story and novel writer, historian, theologian, philosopher... He wrote volumes in all these fields. He is a journalist and an encyclopedist who has published works on almost every subject, from literature to geography, from music to the history of religions, and who wants to inform his readers about every field.
Üss-i İnkilap is a book in which Ahmet Mithat Efendi appears before the reader with the identity of a "chronicler" in addition to his character as an artist. The work was written not with the meticulousness of a historian, but with the curiosity of a journalist and the ease of a novelist. In this work, published in two volumes, the author begins with the Crimean War and ends with Sultan Mehmet II. He depicted the landscape of the period until the first year of Abdulhamid's accession to the throne, and wrote about the political events, economic developments of this turbulent period and their reflections on social life.
