The goal of political Islam's struggle to come to power was achieved when the AKP formed a government on its own in Turkey in 2002. However, Islamic identity had gained a class character long before coming to power. In this transformation, a group with strong ties to the Islamic movement took place in Istanbul in 1990. The influence of MÜSİAD, which was founded by the economic elite, was decisive. Erol Yarar, one of the founding presidents, explains the power of MÜSİAD on Turkish politics as follows: TÜSİAD means the past, MÜSİAD means the future. The social history that is the subject of this book confirms the thesis that the power of an interest group is hidden in the belief, determination and will of its members. Dilek Yankaya, who teaches sociology and political science in France, based on the life stories of the actors who will establish MÜSİAD in the New Islamic Bourgeoisie. examines the process that begins with the mobilization of these actors in the public sphere and continues with the emergence and coming to power of a new Muslim bourgeois class in Turkey. Between the lines of Yankaya's meetings with MÜSİAD members, it is clearly seen how this young bourgeoisie left its mark on the last twenty years of Turkey and how it determined the economy and politics. While New Islamic Bourgeoisie examines how a political movement creates the conditions for the emergence of a new bourgeois class, it also draws attention to the creation of a powerful class indicator from religion in this process, by addressing the causes and consequences of this historical transformation in terms of political Islam.
