Creating the New Paradigm
Are the current capitalist-imperialist system and its neoliberal practices sustainable?
Fikret Başkaya is of the opinion that "it cannot be sustained" and expresses his purpose in writing Creating the New Paradigm as follows: "This book aims to clarify why this is the case and why a situation of 'unsustainability' has emerged."
Then, Başkaya says, "If we accept that it cannot be sustained, a radical revolution of thought, a new Renaissance, is needed," and begins to discuss the elements of this Renaissance.
First, the "contemporary civilization level", and then the concepts of progress, modernization, modernization, growth, development and sustainable development are questioned in detail.
“The song 'going above the level of contemporary civilization' has been sung in Turkey for nearly 90 years. Fikret Başkaya, who says, "However, the 'contemporary civilization' that needs to be overcome is nothing other than capitalist destructiveness and barbarism", also discusses "Europe", which coincides with the said "contemporaryization" target, in terms of the point reached today by the European Union, which is a big capital and Atlantic project. .
The oxymoron nature of the concept of "sustainable development", the myth of growth, the deadlocks that agriculture has come to grips with today, the killing of the soil, etc. In his work, Başkaya reveals the concept of "development" that destroys nature and living things in all its dimensions. After discussions on democracy, NGOs, culturalism and "Political Islam", he concludes his book by revealing the alternatives of exiting capitalism, communal forms of ownership and sharing his "12 suggestions for a new paradigm".
Again, in the words of Başkaya; "Either the current paradigm, capitalism, will be abandoned in time, or humanity will have no future..."
