Yüzyüze

Cengiz Aytmatov's story called Yüzyüze describes the women in a Kyrgyz village who have to live their lives alone as a result of the men being drafted into the military. He tells about his ordeals. Aytmatov's story, Face to Face, which made a huge impact when it was published, makes the reader experience many emotions, while also talking about the conflict between the state and the individual. The author says the following about this story: “The main subject tried to be explained in Face to Face is the confrontation between state authority and the individual.
