Alcohols Book Description (1880-1918) One of the strongest responses to the tension that modern poetry faced at the beginning of the last century came from Apollinaire with his book Alcohols, published in 1913. Alcohols, which transformed the new elements of reality brought by modern life into poetry by breaking them down in an unusual image order in which the word was completely liberated, shook the "established writing order" while focusing on its own unique themes. The intervention of "surreal", which was first used by Apollinaire, on experiences and impressions through the dark subconscious, enabled the emergence of brand new forms. “Reality” was reproduced in poetry as an image of uninterrupted simultaneity, with a constant flood of memories and limitless associations that made the moment timeless. Alcohols are among the source works of the "great poetic art of the century", as they open the door to productive and regenerative synthesis that does not neglect to benefit from the forms of the past.
