On the evening of January 9, 2021, in the Western Hemisphere, nearly a million viewers worldwide witnessed a conversation between an 86-year-old Tibetan leader of Buddhism and an 18-year-old Swedish climate activist.
This event, focused on Climate Feedback Loops, was organized by the Mind & Life Institute, a 30-year-old organization co-founded by the Dalai Lama. It gave us hope to see the Dalai Lama and Greta Thunberg come together to talk about the biggest challenge the world has ever faced.

This was Greta Thunberg's question in her wake-up call to the United Nations in 2019. Yes, how dare we? Do we dare to wake up?
This book will help us answer the questions together, step back from the abyss of the darkest destruction, and heal and rebuild the world to make it a livable place again for all humans and the countless other beings that call the world home.
These two luminaries of our time agreed in that conversation that we, 7.5 billion people, have a solution together. The answer to this crisis lies in human unity. The Dalai Lama’s and Greta Thunberg’s concern about the causes of global warming and the future of our planet is not new. But just as the answer to a complex riddle is often “between the lines,” in the conversations between them and leading climate researchers, we can discover the beginnings of a new path for humanity. A path in which we will learn to combine four essential elements:
Knowledge, talent, will and determination.
This is the moment to live for a future that we can love instead of fear.
