European Model of Society
The European Union is a link of Europe's broader integration project, or the first stage of a grand project with political and social dimensions. The transformations that the Union has undergone within itself also show this. Getting to know the European Union requires understanding a "historical and social experience", far beyond just knowing an organization with its organs, institutions and rules. Even the criteria put forward by the European Union for candidate countries are meaningful as they reveal that the union goes far beyond an institutional formation.
This book looks at Europe with a categorical historical approach and aims to reveal the structure and characteristics of the model by talking about the economic, political, social and ideological developments that make Europe "Europe". It seems that Türkiye is determined to be a part of this dream of integration and to participate in this project. For this reason, Turkey now needs to better understand and discuss not only what the European Union is in an institutional/formal sense, but also what European integration or "Europeanization" means. The European Model of Society was written in the hope of contributing to this understanding effort.
