Another Aesthetic
This guide by Badiou, which explores "another aesthetics", is an attempt to read aesthetics not as a sub-discipline of philosophy, but as a philosophy in itself, expressing what aesthetic products express. For this purpose, the author, who travels through poetry, dance, theater and cinema and returns to poetry, pursues art, or more precisely, the philosophies of artists, especially Mallarmé, Pessoa and Beckett. Another aesthetic: an aesthetic that is no longer aesthetic. An aesthetic located opposite the current place of sensuality. Maybe it's an aesthetic that can only be created through aesthetics.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS: Alain Badiou (1937) teaches at the International School of Philosophy and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.
