Mahmut Yiğitel was born in 1960 in the Lice district of Diyarbakır as the child of a patriotic family.

Mahmut was introduced to the revolutionary struggle in 1974-75, when he started high school and took part in the ranks of the Freedom Path.

In the 70s, when socialist and patriotic movements began to develop in Kurdistan, Lice became one of the central places of the socialist Kurdish movement, and Mahmut quickly began to come to the fore. He was very brave and carried out his duties well.

He was a militant, a socialist, interested in philosophy, a good reader, a good narrator and a good listener.

In 1983, Mahmut was detained in an operation against the Freedom Path movement throughout Turkey and incurred the wrath of the September 12 Fascist Junta. He remained in custody for months. He bravely resisted the wheels of torture. He stayed in Diyarbakır Prison No. 5 for nearly 5 years.

The book in your hand contains the poems written by a freedom fighter, a revolutionary who resisted the tyrants in the Diyarbakır dungeons throughout his life and continued his struggle with the same determination until the day he lost his life, and those written by his comrades after his death.
