Bizans'ın Gizli Tarihi - Hasan Ali Yücel Klasikleri
Prokopios (500-565): The famous Byzantine historian became the private secretary and legal advisor of Commander Belisarios in 527. He participated in campaigns in Iran, Africa and Italy and closely watched the wars fought there. In 560, Prokopios was given the title of illustres, which was given to very few people, and in 562 he became the Byzantine city administrator. Influenced by Herodotus and Thucydides, Prokopios followed their methods in the official histories he wrote. In his History of Wars, he describes the wars of the Byzantine armies with the Vandals, Goths and Persians. In his work titled Structures, he discusses the churches, bridges and other structures of the empire and gives valuable information about the architecture of that period. In his Secret History of Byzantium, in which he describes the time of Emperor Justinian, Procopius mentions that in his previous books he had to adapt to the times and could not afford to reveal the truth of the matter, but was silently glossed over.
states that it reveals the events clearly.
