God Torak, Aldur's brother, did everything he could to get his hands on the Stone for millennia. The two people who tried to stop him were Aldur's disciple, the Sorceress Belgarath, and his daughter, the Sorceress Polgara. The Belgariad is the story of Torak's final struggle to capture the Stone of Aldur and rule the world.

In the Enchanted Castle, Garion manages to take the Stone from Ctuchik's hand, and Polgara and Belgarath return to the West, to the island of Riva, Garion finally inherits his lineage and becomes "Belgarion", and the Western armies become the Flower of the Tolnedra Empire, the Jewel of the Borune Dynasty. It tells the story of a great war against the armies of Torak led by Ce'Nedra, Imperial Princess and Ruler of the West.
