Anthology of Contemporary Greek Poetry
Contemporary Greek poetry is a poem that was deemed worthy of the Nobel Prize in Literature, first by George Seferis in 1963, and then by Odysseus Elitis (1979). This poem, which includes important poets who left their mark on 20th century world poetry, from Cavafy to Kazantzakis, from Ritsos to Gatsos, has a structure that touches Turkish poetry with its Mediterraneanness.
In his Anthology of Contemporary Greek Poetry, which was first published in 1982 and expanded in many aspects in this new edition, Cevat Çapan brings together the most important names of 20th century Greek poetry, starting from Konstantinos Kavafis, born in 1863, and ending with Yannis Varveris, born in 1955.
