In his stories, Fakir Baykurt deals with problems such as the harshness of village life, poverty, ignorance, bigotry, superstition and exploitation, and deals with the material and spiritual world of the villagers from a socialist and realistic perspective. Based on observations and live testimonies, the author occasionally uses a humorous language by bringing daily spoken language into the story; It strikingly depicts the "ordinary person" who is stuck between the wheels of bureaucracy but has hope within him, together with the atmosphere of the place he lives in. We meet the reader again with: "Selver, after clearing the table, brought a basin and pitcher, made us wash our hands and mouth. Then, he went to the door and sat down. He was kneeling down. He had placed his hands respectfully on his knees. He was waiting without moving. He was silent. From time to time, I looked at his face out of the corner of my eye. His freckles were moving. It was as if he was moving. His eyes were frequently on me, sometimes on his father, and sometimes on his mother. This Selver should lie on a soft bed with clean sheets, and comb his hair, his ears, and behind his ears thoroughly, here and there, with a bar of soap that is not the worst of soaps. He had to clean his feet and heels with soapy cloths dipped in hot water. These ankles had to be cleaned, these lips, the fronts of these nostrils, these areas of the eyes to be kissed, these muscles, the holes of his skin had to be visible when you look at them from the front. Her hair, shining as if it had been dipped in golden water because of its cleanliness, should have sunk into the scented, calico-sheeted beds and just sleep. How sweetly this Selver would sleep!
