A pedophile is brutally murdered in his own home, and police question the victims' families to protect others committing similar crimes. It's an ordinary day at work for Detective Will Wagstaffe - or Staffe, as he is known by his friends and enemies. But nothing is simple in this case. Staffe's personal life has also long been complicated. Gareth Creer, who used the name Adam Creed in his novels, was born in Salford. He studied philosophy, politics and economics at Balliol College Oxford. Creer, who was head of the Creative Writing department at Liverpool John Moores University for many years, retired to devote all his time to writing. When he is not in England he lives in Andalusia.
