Trials - Book Description About Franz Kafka While Elias Canetti was writing his only novel, Blindness, in the winter months of 1930/31, he read Kafka's stories "The Metamorphosis" and "A Hunger Artist". Stating in his notes that these stories were influential in the later development of his novel, Canetti kept his interest in Kafka alive as long as he lived. We often come across Kafka in Canetti's notes, which he turned into a literary genre. In these notes, Canetti comments on Kafka's works and personality, sometimes draws parallels with his own life, and even identifies himself with Kafka.
