Trials - Book Description About Franz Kafka While Elias Canetti was writing his only novel, Blindness, in the winter months of 1930/31, he read Kafka's stories "The Metamorphosis" and "A Hunger Artist". Stating in his notes that these stories were influential in the later development of his novel, Canetti kept his interest in Kafka alive as long as he lived. We often come across Kafka in Canetti's notes, which he turned into a literary genre. In these notes, Canetti comments on Kafka's works and personality, sometimes draws parallels with his own life, and even identifies himself with Kafka. So much so that, in a note dated 14.4.1982, he states that he actually "accompanied Kafka" when he went to Stockholm to receive the Nobel Prize. Elias Canetti examined Kafka's Correspondence with Felice Bauer, all of his works intensively, and the period in which this correspondence was written, The Other Case. He discussed Kafka's Letters to Felice in his essay and showed the traces of this period in his novel The Trial. This book, prepared by the Canetti Foundation by Susanne Lüdemann and Kristian Wachinger, includes Canetti's essay "The Other Case" as well as the notes he wrote in the years 1946-1966 before the essay was written, in the years 1967-68 when he worked on the essay, and in the subsequent years 1969-1994. taking. In these notes, besides thoughts about Kafka, there are also traces from his own life. For example, the 1968 Paris and Prague Spring events that Kafka witnessed while writing his essay are also reflected in the notes. The book also includes the "Proust, Kafka Conference" given by Canetti at Bryanston Summer School in 1948 and the speech titled "Hebel and Kafka" given at the ceremony of the Johann Peter Hebel Award given to him on May 10, 1980.
