This work, the Memê Alan Epic, was published for the first time in 1978 by Özgür Yolu Publications, with its Kurdish original and Turkish translation. The second edition is published 40 years later by the Freedom Path Foundation Publications. In the 1970s, a number of valuable works on Kurdish history, language and literature were published by the Freedom Path publications. We want to bring at least some of these to readers again.
The Turkish translation of the work was made by Kemal Burkay, but the name "Baran" was used in the first edition. We used Burkay's own name in the new edition. We are happy to bring this famous epic of our people to the readers once again.
