State and Kuzgun-MHP from the 1990s to the 2000s
The period 1991-2003 was a special period for MHP. It enjoyed great popularization... It was promoted from "marginalism" to the position of "center party"... It became a government partner by reaching the highest vote rate in its history... Then, at the end of 2002, it was left out of parliament again and entered a severe crisis... This period It was also a period when the death of Alparslan Türkeş, the founder and symbol-leader of the movement, and the formation of a post-Türkes MHP took place. Tanıl Bora and Kemal Can, who discussed the nearly 10-year crisis period of the idealist movement after September 12, 1980 in their book Devlet Ocak Dergâh, examine this special period of MHP after 1991 in Devlet ve Kuzgun.
On one side, the book puts the 'spirit' of the 1990s on the table of dissection. The 1990s were a period when nationalism experienced a new spring in Turkey. The 'new' MHP was reshaped with the spirit/atmosphere of this period and contributed to the formation of that spirit/atmosphere.
