Eteğimdeki Taşlar
In 2004, Murathan Mungan published Çador at the beginning of the year, then his essay book Another Box, and two thematic story selections from world literature: Men's Stories and 21 Stories of Womanhood.
In the last week of the year, his new poetry book, Stones in My Skirt, comes out. Stones in My Skirt, whose cover was designed by graphic artist Hakkı Mısırlıoğlu, is a book that carries the connotations of its name. It is a voluminous book that includes various poetic stays that Murathan Mungan has undergone from 1979 to the present day, whether in terms of its volume, its voice, what it has accumulated and what it has documented.
Considering Murathan Mungan's entire work, it can be said to be a kind of book of turning points - a book of turning points where he looks at the paths he came from and weighs the new paths he will take. The book, which consists of 10 chapters, each of which would be a separate book if left to time, brings together many unknown poems that you will read for the first time. In Mungan's own words, these are "poems whose face and language he deliberately divides and fragments, but which open into a whole that is united by the same themes and the same problems each time, even though they are fed by different veins."
