Fragments-Hasan Ali Yücel Classics Book Description Heraclitus (approximately 540-480 BC): He is one of the most important and influential philosophers not only in Ancient Greece but in the entire history of philosophy. His theatrical personality, whose historical aspect is controversial, as well as the different elements of his teaching, have turned him into a famous figure remembered throughout the ages. What is known about his life is based on the writings of later writers, like other pre-Socratic philosophers. Heraclitus, who was called "dark" because he used a closed language, sees himself as having reached the most important truth about the formation and structure of the cosmos, of which humans are a part. There are three basic propositions valid in the cosmos: Opposites are compatible with each other, everything is in constant motion and change, the cosmos is fire that always remains alive. Explaining both physical and spiritual change processes with a single transformation doctrine, the philosopher saw human laws as being related to the divine logos, and by combining political reason with the divine logos, he knitted ethics and physics together in philosophy for the first time.
