Are Hadiths Hadith Sharifs?
Although the word hadith was initially used to mean the words conveyed from the prophet, the meaning of the word hadith expands as time goes by. Because when a science called Hadith emerges and the hadiths are examined with an investigative perspective, it becomes clear that the words conveyed as hadith are not just the words conveyed from the prophet. Among the hadiths, there are also words containing the actions and decisions of the Prophet.
If these were the only things, it could still be considered natural. However, the words of the Prophet's friends, even the generations after them, and even more strangely, the words of the later generations were also evaluated within the term hadith. Even the saying given by the Prophet's grandfather Abdulmuttalib, whom he lost when he was very young, is mentioned among the hadiths.
Although it is a broad and widespread belief that the word hadith refers to the words of the prophet, hadith includes not only the words of the prophet but also his actions, as well as the words and actions of not only the prophet but also his companions and even the two generations after them.
Then the following questions become important: Why is the hadith always understood as the words of the prophet in the eyes of the public? And why is it interesting what was conveyed from the companions? In fact, many nonsense sayings that can be described as nonsense, of which you will see dozens in the "Interesting Hadiths" section of our book, are described as hadith serif (honorable words).
