The Eye of Power forms a complementary whole with The Political Function of the Intellectual, Subject and Power, and The Great Closure, which were previously published in Foucault's Selected Writings series. These first three volumes examine the subjectification techniques used by power relations in modern Western societies and the institutions and practices that make the application of these techniques possible. It contained detailed texts on the model developed by Foucault to analyze the subject and discussed the new meanings of some basic concepts such as resistance, knowledge, and intellectual within the framework of this model. The Eye of Power focuses on the forms of subjective experience that come to the fore in the analysis of the subjectification techniques of power and the corresponding mental illness, criminal tendency. and identities such as sexuality; forms of knowledge such as medicine, psychiatry, sociology, criminology that determine the establishment of these experiences and identities, and practices such as psychoanalysis, observation, isolation, correction, treatment, punishment, and finally a mutual determination relationship with these practices such as hospitals, mental hospitals, and prisons. It is about the institutions of confinement within. This book, which includes conferences and interviews given in the years after 1975, when Foucault's political activities intensified, discusses not only the resistance mechanisms that can be developed from a Foucaultian perspective, but also the similarities or differences of this perspective with other critiques of power and resistance models, and especially Foucault's Foucault, who looks for "core identities" and points out that this may mean turning these identities into the law of human behavior, discusses where a new ethics can be based and argues that an oppositional subjectivity is not necessarily based on identity and the homogenizing relations of belonging that it brings. He says that it can be established through differentiation, creation and innovation. Foucault, who caused great controversy by predicting in the closing sentences of "Words and Things" that "human" will disappear like a figure drawn on the sand on the beach, points here to the political conditions of a form of existence free of essentialism. Today, all The Eye of Power is an indispensable contribution to these discussions that maintain their importance with their power.
