Interest in Economic Life and Islam

Workshop organized by the Quran Research Foundation / KURAV in Bursa on 21-22 April 2018; foundation president Prof. As our teacher Dr. Yunus Vehbi Yavuz stated, it is a scientific meeting held with more than 50 participants from the sides of the issue, theologians and economists, academics, bank and business world representatives, as well as Jewish and Christian representatives, in order to produce a common language, common understanding and common meaning on the interest issue.

Dr. The Workshop started with the "opening conference" of our teacher Hayrettin Karaman; It consists of 9 sessions and 10 papers on four main topics: "Interest in History", "Interest in Today's Economic System and Banking", "Interest in Religions", "Interest in the Quran, Sunnah and Fiqh Sects". In the session titled "The Issue of Interest in Particular to the People of the Book", the Jewish representative, Mr. Yusuf Besalel, presented a paper titled "Lending Money", and the Christian representative, the cleric Mr. İshak Bıçakçı, presented a paper titled "On Interest". In his notification, Mr. Besalel stated that interest is strictly prohibited, based on his own sacred/religious sources. Mr. Bıçakçı also stated that interest is seen as normal and a right today, as in the past, and that it is prohibited in the Holy Bible, but that the love of money/possessions and all secular morality are He stated that he had turned these values upside down.

In the evaluation session of the workshop, our valuable teachers M. Akif Aydın, Ali Bardakoğlu and Sabri Orman; With their experience and scientific knowledge, they presented the two-day results in a "mani-mani" manner and guided young academics.
