The year is 1846. As soon as young Dostoyevsky completes his first novel, Humanities, he has his roommate, the writer Grigorovich, read it. Grigorovich gets so excited that he wants to get up and hug Fyodor's neck several times; But he doesn't do it because he knows his friend doesn't like excessive displays of emotion. Grigorovich takes the novel to the writer and publisher Nekrasov the next day; Nekrasov, who was very impressed by the book, said to the critic Belinsky... "A new Gogol is born!" says Nekrasov, right at the doorstep. When he visits Belinsky again in the evening of the same day, he finds him excited: "Where have you been? Where is this Dostoyevsky of yours? Is he young? How old is he? Bring him to me immediately!"

The twenty-three-year-old young writer, who was brought to Belinski's house, will later describe what happened there: "And here... they took me to him. I had read Belinski with excitement a few years ago, but he seemed scary and harsh to me, and he made fun of my Humans." I thought he would. He greeted me in a very respectful and dignified manner, but not even a minute later, everything was completely different... He was talking to me with fiery, fiery eyes, "Do you understand it yourself?" he was shouting at me over and over again, as was his habit. "Do you understand what you have written? Did you think of all this terrible truth, this truth that you have shown us? No way, there is no way a twenty-year-old like you could understand all this... You have discovered the truth and declared it as an artist, you have been given a talent, appreciate your talent and be sure, you will be a great writer."

The year is 2013. After 167 years, Dostoyevsky remains one of the leading writers of every generation, and Humans is his first gift to world literature...
