Good People Are Hard to Find
Good People Are Hard to Find includes ten stories by Flannery O'Connor, one of the most interesting names of twentieth-century American literature and who produced successful works within the movement called "southern gothic". In these stories, where an eerie atmosphere prevails, the unpleasant but real aspects of human nature are revealed. Many of O'Connor's characters are too disturbing to sympathize with, but that's exactly what makes them interesting. Here we are talking about characters who strongly resist being classified as good or bad; It is not easy to predict which side will weigh heavily on the moral scale. Because O'Connor, who welcomes the reader into the world of selfishness, hypocrisy, ignorance and even evil done just for pleasure, destroys familiar clichés on ambivalent issues such as morality, religiosity, good and evil, and displays an almost unsettling and astonishing objectivity. This grotesque world full of grotesque characters promises a satisfying read for literature lovers who are not afraid to confront "darkness".
