"Geography is destiny" says Ibn Khaldun. People cannot choose the places and conditions in which they live. They are born into it. Tahir Elçi was born in Cizire Botan and started working as a lawyer there in 1991, during the years when unsolved murders, oppression and torture were at their peak. As a conscientious Kurd, he devoted himself to what his people were going through.
