METU Department of Economics Retired Faculty Member Prof. is one of the productive writers of economic science and socialist thought. In his new book, Oktar Türel examines international economic developments in the period 1945-79. According to Türel, this period is important for those interested in political economy in two respects:

Developments in the Cold War and the "Third World". In the second part of the book, which is more voluminous, international economic developments are examined in outline. In the first part of this part, which also consists of five chapters, II. The international economic institutionalization that took place after World War II is described. The second and third chapters focus on reviewing major economic developments and economic policy directions in the capitalist “core” and “periphery,” respectively. The disintegration of the dominant Keynesian paradigm after the war, which took place in the 1968-79 sub-period, is the subject of the fourth chapter, while the fifth and last chapter discusses how the "environment" responded and adapted to this dissolution. It is a very important source to understand the economic and political developments in recent history, the paradigm changes of capitalism and "center/periphery" relations, together with their effects on today...
