Dead Male Birds
Two different women live inside Suna. 'Su' is the docile, accommodating, domesticated, conditioned to be a good mother and wife, while 'Na' is the rebellious and brave identity, ready to oppose any order that it considers corrupt. Su-Na's situation becomes even more difficult when she falls in love with Onur, the best friend of her husband Ayhan, amidst the dual egos and divisions that are constantly in conflict. While telling the other about the burning back and forth between two men with whom she is bonded by a deep-rooted bond of love and marriage, she examines how these three people are shaped by predictions, conditions and rules on the way from childhood to becoming a man and a woman. It shows how male-female relations turn into an exhausting lack of communication and deadlock, both in the harshness and violence inherent in social taboos and judgments, and in the repressive environment of a historical period. In this chaos, love is a childish dream and marriage is a disorder thought to be order.
Inci Aral; In this much-loved first novel, which remains up-to-date without getting old, she describes a woman's desperate search for independence and happiness with shocking sincerity and mastery.
