A Pioneering Kurdish Intellectual M. MALMİSANIJ (Biography-Bibliography)

“… In one of the many beautiful old buildings on Skeppsholmen in Stockholm, right up to the quay and rows of large boats, is the Kurdish Library. It is part of the vibrant Kurdish cultural scene emerging in Sweden. Behind the table at the entrance of the library, with his thick-framed classical intellectual glasses, sits Mehmet Tayfun [Malmîsanij], who fought bravely for the Kurdish language. Swedish literary critic Jenny Aschenbrenner, who interviewed him, introduces Malmîsanij with these sentences. Not only as a student of his and as someone who has worked closely with him for some periods, but also as someone who has examined his works since 1976, when he started his writing career, we can say that the three phrases that can best describe Malmîsanij are indeed “library” , “ classic intellectual glasses with thick frames” ” and much more important than these two is that he “ fought bravely for the Kurdish language ” .

When Kirmancca (Zaza) is mentioned, one of the first names that comes to mind is undoubtedly M. Malmîsanij, or with his unknown name, Mehmet TAYFUN. When the work in question is examined, the pioneer adjective used for him is his works on Kirmanji, some of which are the first of their kind, as well as the attainment of standard spelling rules of this Kurdish dialect; It is possible to think that it is preferred due to the important role it plays in the development of written literature. One of the concrete results of this study is that Malmîsanij is a productive Kurdish researcher-writer who produced many works in different genres in the field of Kurdish language and culture in general, as well as Kirmanji.

The book consists of two main parts. In the biography section, Malmîsanij's life is described in a blended manner, starting from his childhood in the village, to his years of exile in Sweden, and from his return to Turkey to the present day. The second part of the study is M. Malmîsanij Bibliography. In this bibliography, there is information about the works he wrote and translated, as well as the texts written and published by others about his works. Additionally, there are two interviews with him in Sweden, which were translated from Swedish to Turkish for the first time for this book, his Kirmanca poem called Surgun, which came to light in the past months, the text of a speech he gave in Kirmanji, an interview with him in the Kurmanji (Kurmanji) dialect, and important photographs starting from his first childhood photograph. Many photographs of this section, which appear for the first time in this book, are presented under the title of Appendix of the study.
