Psychoanalysis Articles 5 - Masculinity
Instead of first designing and writing a story, turning it into a script, and then choosing actors suitable for that scenario, I first start thinking about the characters and then create and write a story about them. In fact, I like to think of roles suitable for characters I have met for some reason. That's why it's much easier for me to write dialogue and story drafts since I start by determining the characters. However, I do not take anything in my previous text as definitive. While rehearsing with the actors, I allow ample room for improvisation, and my characters can carve out different paths for themselves during the interaction with the actors. Therefore, the story can change radically in the process. Even after shooting a movie whose story I built like this, I never look back at it again.
The movie goes its own way.
