Régis Debray and the Latin American Revolution
COMPILED BY: LEO HUBERMAN & PAUL M. SWEEZY
Given its importance and value, no honest and constructive criticism of Régis Debray's work can do it justice. As an important revolutionary document in the tradition of political literature, Debray's series of articles has forced us all to engage and confront the most important political issues of our time.

Régis Debray wrote three closely interconnected works on the Latin American revolution. These studies are among the brightest examples of Marxist-Leninist analysis that have emerged in recent years. What distinguishes Debray's writings from others is that he adheres to the Leninist perspective on making revolution and claims that revolution is a technical, political and military problem. This feature gives his writings internal integrity and a clear quality. Its tone recalls the insurrectionary debates of 1917 and the burning urgency of the manifestos. All setbacks and difficulties are evaluated from the perspective that they can be overcome.
