William Kamkwamba is thirteen years old when his small village in Malawi is devastated by drought. When his family loses the entire year's crop due to drought, he, like everyone else, experiences hunger. He goes to bed almost every night with an empty stomach and sees the people around him die of hunger one by one. As if that were not enough, he is forced to leave his beloved school due to lack of money, but he does not give up, on the contrary, he challenges poverty and impossibilities with his curiosity, intelligence and joy of life. William may not be able to go to school, but he heads to the village library every day, discovers science books there and the doors of a whole new world open up before him. He now has a dream: He will build a windmill, bring electricity to his village and water to the fields. In this way, no one will go hungry again. Since it is not possible to buy the materials needed to build the windmill, he starts to dig through garbage dumps and collect scraps. Although everyone, including his own family, thinks he is crazy, he does not give up on his dream because he sees opportunity where everyone else sees garbage. He is curious, he tries and he succeeds.
