Sigmund Freud's Mission
Psychoanalysis, as Freud himself was fond of emphasizing, was his work. Psychoanalysis carries the traces of its founder's personality, with its great successes as well as its flaws. In this case, the origin of psychoanalysis must undoubtedly be sought in Freud's personality. So what kind of person was Freud? What were the driving forces in his being that led him to act, think and feel in a unique way? Was he a corrupt Viennese who grew up in an atmosphere of sexuality and indiscipline, as his enemies claimed, or was he, as his most loyal supporters claimed, a man who walked fearlessly and uncompromisingly on the path of finding the truth, was very affectionate towards his family, kind to his students, fair to his enemies, without any signs of arrogance or selfishness? Moreover, was he a great master who had no personal flaws?
