Unity Initiatives on the Left and the Experience of the Socialist Unity Party

"...The purpose of doing this research is; after September 12, 1980, the unity attempts and discussions on the left and the unions that took place as a result of these discussions. It was to bring together the theses and discussion documents put forward without commenting on how the new divisions were experienced on the revolution-reform axis.

Some of the actors of the Turkish Marxist-Left and Socialist movement mentioned here are no longer alive; Some of them left the organizations they were in and founded new organizations. Those who were young then are 55-60 years old today. Those who are "brothers" are over the age of 70, there are those who are in their 80s. Many "old boys" are still actively involved in left-wing politics. An important socialist segment is tired of "intra-left debates" and prefers to live like a "retiree" and retreats into their own inner world and watches what is happening.

The basic concepts and theses of Marxism such as left, socialism, democracy, revolution, reform, classes, class struggle included in this research; What kind of a party is it as a revolutionary organization? main issues and problems such as political struggle and its tools; It discusses seventy-five actors, among the prominent leaders of Türkiye's Marxist-left movement fractions. And the "party's identity" discussion documents, which were initiated by the Socialist Unity Party, provincial and district organizations, central managers and the chairman one month after the party was founded, and the reasons for those who left the party are included.
